Despite continuing volatility and uncertainty in the global wind power market, the world’s largest wind turbine maker had a record year in 2025.

Resilience in the face of uncertainty

The global wind power market has been shaken, and is feeling the impacts of one of the world’s largest wind power markets, the US government’s attack on the clean energy source.

But despite this, the Danish wind giant received orders equal to 16.3 gigawatts (GW) of electricity capacity in 2025, with onshore wind turbines remaining the core of its business, but offshore wind turbine orders were slightly down. Vestas say this means that they currently have a record-high backlog of orders.

New orders received in 2025 were only slightly lower than the 17 GW of orders they received in 2024.

According to the Danish company, in 2025, they recorded record revenues worth €18.8 billion.

Solid 2025 performance

Commenting on its achievements last year, Vestas CEO Henrik Andersen, said that in 2025: “Vestas achieved our highest ever revenue and profitability in the upper end of our outlook, representing a solid result in a volatile global business environment.”

He outlined their 2025 growth story: “Growth across Onshore, Offshore and Service ensured revenue of EUR 18.8bn.”

And explained that onshore growth is funding their offshore investments, “The strong performance in Onshore was underlined by absorbing the continued extra costs and investments related to the ramp-up in Offshore.”

As the US wind market is expected to slow down, Andersen and Vestas will be buoyed by the trend growth in the Asian market, as well as a consistent number of orders in the European market.
