The role

As we are expanding our coverage of the crucial COP30 UN climate summit held in the Brazilian city of Pará, the capital of the state of Belém, in November this year, we are looking for a Part-time COP30 Brazilian-based Writer.

This would suit a Brazil-based student, an entry-level applicant or someone exploring a career change.

This position has no educational requirement, though a passion and interest in climate change and sustainability are essential.

Requirements

  • A passion and interest in sustainability and or the various sub-areas it includes
  • The ability to, on average, dedicate at least two hours weekly.
  • Brazilian national with a good level of English

Desirable qualities

  • A good understanding of the Brazilian news landscape
  • A good understanding of the COP UN climate meetings and its processes
  • Attending the COP30 summit
  • A general knowledge of climate science and frameworks
  • A general understanding of sustainability definitions
  • A general understanding of energy systems
  • Good communication skills
  • A basic knowledge of SEO
  • A basic knowledge of social media strategies and platforms
  • A basic knowledge of web content
  • A basic knowledge of CSS software such as WordPress

  • News and article research
  • Frequently update our COP30 page.
  • Investigative research
  • Local knowledge research
  • Translating from Euro-Portuguese to English
  • Social media research
  • Data analysis, reporting and tracking
  • Conducting interview
  • Find unique personal impact story angles
  • Craft content based on current trends across a variety of demographics
