Depending on where you are in the world, you are either well into 2026, have just entered or will do so in the coming hours.
For 2026, we are trying something entirely new, a prediction game. Obviously, with serious undertones, we hope it will provide a more engaging and interactive way to look at climate change, the impacts, but also very much the solutions.
Each prediction question has its own closing date, shown alongside the question.
How the game works
Further down the article you will find a point scoring system and a leaderboard table. The latter will be populated once the first results starts coming through, provided you have opted in to sharing your information with us.
Each prediction earns points depending on accuracy and difficulty. Range-based questions reward closer predictions with higher scores. Full scoring details are shown below.
Prizes and mentions
We are working on getting some prizes, and everyone who scores a correct prediction will be featured and mentioned here, and possible in other articles.
For this purpose, and to make sure you are entering the competition it is essential for you to supply some basic info about yourself.
How your data is used
The data you share with us will be used solely for administering this competition, calculating scores, publishing the leaderboard, and contacting prize winners.
It will not be used for marketing purposes. If this were ever to change, we would seek your explicit permission in advance. We will also request permission before featuring or mentioning you in any other articles.
You can enter your results in this article or by clicking on this link.

Any remaining unresolved predictions will be assessed in early 2027 using authoritative public data from recognised sources such as the International Energy Agency (IEA), United Nations (UN) agencies and official national statistics.
In cases of ambiguous or conflicting data, the editorial team’s judgement will be final, with reasoning published alongside the results
